Pregnancy & Postnatal Physiotherapy in Johor

Women's-health physiotherapy is a specific sub-area of physio that handles the musculoskeletal and pelvic-floor changes that come with pregnancy, birth, and the months after.

It's not the same as general MSK physio, and matching matters - especially for postnatal assessment and pelvic-floor work.

What we see most in Johor

Antenatal back and pelvic girdle pain. From mid-pregnancy onwards, as the centre of gravity shifts. Manageable with specific exercises, support belts, and movement coaching.

Postnatal pelvic-floor issues. Leaking with coughing, sneezing or running. Pelvic heaviness.

Pain during sex. All common, all treatable.

Diastasis recti (abdominal separation). Most resolve naturally by 8–12 weeks postnatally. Some need specific exercise programmes; a very small number need surgical review.

Return-to-exercise guidance. Especially for runners and gym-goers keen to get back safely without worsening pelvic floor issues.

Caesarean scar management. Mobilisation and desensitisation techniques for post-op scar tissue.

When to start

Antenatal: any time you have pain. Don't wait. Postnatal: first assessment from 6 weeks if uncomplicated vaginal delivery, earlier if caesarean with issues or significant complications.

Cost

RM120-250 per session. Home-visit often preferred early postnatally.

Language and comfort

Many Johor mothers prefer a female physio who speaks their language (Mandarin, Hokkien, Malay, English). We match accordingly.

How PhysioJohor matches you

WhatsApp with: how far along (or how many weeks postnatal), main concern, whether caesarean or vaginal birth, + gender preference.

We match to a women's-health-trained physio.

FAQs

When to start postnatal physio?

Not for most cases. We refer back to a doctor if a red flag turns up during screening.
Will the same physio see us every visit?
Yes. Continuity of care is part of how we match.
Can family help during the session?
Yes. Family coaching is built into every home-visit session.
How long does each session run?
Typically 45 to 60 minutes.
